What's your first handgun? Do you still keep it around? I'd love to hear your stories, whether it's fond memories or a funny mishap. Feel free to share photos too!

My first handgun was given to me when I was eighteen in 1976: a new 6" S&W Model 35 22 LR. It was a target version of the Model 34 Kit Gun built on a 22/32 frame. I no longer have it. It was very accurate and set me up to be disappointed with the accuracy of the 22s I bought years later.

When I was 21, I lived in NYS and the city I lived in required the PD comish to approve your first gun on your county license. Sounds like bs, well it is/was. He required everyones first pistol to be a revolver, and at least 4".
So my first revolver was a 4" Ruger GP100, which I still have. Learning to shoot the revolver first, made handling semi-autos different but easier to control.

My fist handgun was a S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman (N frame 4" barrel .357mag)... Not the most glamorous firearm but, I was preparing for the police academy and revolvers were the standard at that time. The heavy frame tamed recoil and made it easy to shoot decent groups.
