If you've been shooting for 20+ years, what tips would you give new shooters? Let’s hear the wisdom from the veterans of the range.

Keeping good records early on was one of the best things I did..tracking every load and range session saves you so much time in the long run

Save up your money and only buy quality guns that you will be able to get parts for down the road.

Don't buy a magnum unless you're going to hunt with it and want to stretch the effective distance. There's no need to hurt your hand and deal with magnum recoil when defending yourself or when shooting targets.

Cheap guns end up costing more in the long run when parts or support disappear

Yeah magnums have their purpose, but they’re not a universal solution. Using the right tool for the job makes shooting a lot more enjoyable and effective

Start with a good quality 22 revolver or bolt action rifle. When you move up to a larger caliber you still will have a good quality 22 to fall back on or pass on to younger family members. Most all shooters start out with a 22. An interest in reloading will also be helpful in the future! My 2c
