My controlled pairs were just two aimed shots with extra steps

True controlled pairs have a specific cadence which is fire, recover, fire, with the recovery happening during the first trigger's reset. What I was doing was closer to fire, re-aim, fire. It is a different technique, speed and application but neither one is wrong, they're just different tools for different jobs. What's important is to know which one you're actually using. Have you ever realized a skill you thought you'd mastered was actually something else entirely?

Yeah, that’s a pretty common discovery once you start analyzing it instead of just running reps. Calling the technique correctly is half the battle because it changes how you train it going forward.

Last year, I thought my grip was good until someone filmed me shooting. Watching it back was humbling, to say the least.
