Humidity control in gun safes

I opened my safe last month and found surface rust starting on a rifle. I didn't even know humidity was an issue. What do you use for humidity control?

That’s a tough lesson. I use a GoldenRod plus silica packs and haven’t had rust issues since.

I use a dehumidifier rod and rechargeable desiccant packs in my safe. I haven't seen any rust since I started using both.

That’s unfortunately pretty common, safes can trap moisture and swing humidity more than people expect.

Many people put their safes in the basement......basements are usually damp......as others have mentioned buy a golden rod or other dehumidifier for inside your safe as it will keep the condensation down.
